Including the
Jr. Community Club
The Lime Springs Community Club's mission is to promote the City by
sponsoring events throughout the year. Sweet Corn Days in August
and Christmas in Lime Springs in December are two examples.
Membership is open to anyone who wishes to join. Dues are $10/year.
Officers for 2020 are:
Community Club leaders formed a Jr. Community Club in 2003! This is for interested citizens in 3rd to 12th grades. Purposes of the club include:
The club's Flag Project, with nearly 100 subscribers, was started several years ago and continues. Jr. Community Club members install an American flag in the subscriber's yard the morning of special holidays and remove it that night. This project provides a means of displaying patriotism, beautifies the town, provides a meaningful experience for the members, and helps finance their activities.
As a new project some years ago, the Jr. Community Club opened the "recycling center."
The Junior members collect aluminum cans and plastic bottles on
which deposits have been paid. These items can be placed in the
wire "cage" located in the center of townwhere the
Corner Cafe used to stand.
This project will provide a way for residents to avoid the hassle
of returning their containers to the store and at the same time
make a contribution (the value of the deposit) to the Junior Community
Club. In 2006, this project provided $3,000 which was contributed to
the swimming pool fund.
